Brigadier James Stopford CBE
James took over as Chief Executive in April 2016 having left the Army (Irish Guards) in December 2015 after 36 years of service.  He is a member of Her Majesty’s Body Guard of the Honourable Corps of Gentlemen at Arms, Chairman of The Gallipoli Association, an enthusiastic but untalented sailor, lover of all outdoor activities and passionate about his family.  He is married to Michelle, a solicitor, and they have two grown up children, a doctor (des) and vintner (practising!). Rosie croppedHead of Events, Rosie Thompson
Rosie has been our Head of Events for 18 years and during that time has met many thousands of veterans – all of whom inspire her. Rosie’s passions are any outdoors activity – except sailing! She has a real love of animals, especially her beloved cocker spaniel Amber. When not working – which is rare – she is busy raising money in a variety of ways for the NFA. She has completed 24 marathons, many half marathons and several long distance challenges; and in 2017 she will fulfil a long-held ambition to take part in the Marathon des Sables. Email: events@nfassociation.org


Head of Finance & Executive Officer, Al Balelo-GoncalvesAl
Al brings a wealth of financial and accounting experience gained in South Africa, the USA and the UK, particularly in the charity sector. Al ran his own accounting practice in Cape Town, South Africa, specialising in small businesses and was a co-founder of the South African AIDS Foundation. Al is an active charity volunteer and currently serves as chair of the finance committee of a Camden Town charity. His other interests include the theatre, ballet and discovering art galleries. He also enjoys travelling and exploring the many parks and green spaces in and around London.

Anne finalAssistant to Head of Events and Holidays Manager, Anne McGinley
Anne joined the NFA in 1999. She previously worked for the United Nations in Geneva, New York and Damascus before returning to England as P.A. to the President of a large international record company.  Anne helps Rosie to organise the NFA’s busy programme of activities, liaising with veterans’ organisations and our beneficiaries as well as representing the charity at events. She has a daughter and two stepchildren and enjoys walking, concerts, visiting museums and exhibitions. Email: holidays@nfassociation.org


P.A. to the Chief Executive, Ann Milcoy
Ann has been in post since 2001. After working for Marks and Spencer, Shell, Price Waterhouse and United City Merchants, she left to bring up her two children; Peter (now a Bank Manager) and Eleanor (in Theatre Marketing) before returning to work and joining the NFA.  Her interests are mainly her three grandchildren, but she also loves walking, dancing, learning Italian and holidaying in Italy.  She especially enjoys meeting the NFA’s beneficiaries and organising the collections at London railways stations.

Communications Manager, Phil Jenkins
Phil joined the NFA in 2011 and has worked in most areas of the charity. After spending some 25 years in commercial roles in the travel industry – including co-founding a tour operating business – he became a freelance marketing consultant before joining the NFA. His responsibilities include the website, social media, the Annual Review, advertising, PR and looking after our fundraisers. IT & Database Manager, Nick Jones-Evans
Nick began his career as a youth project worker in Wales in 2010 before moving to London in 2012 to work as a support worker in a homeless hostel. As well as his technical responsibilities, Nick also runs our Television Department. Communications Officer, Milly Garnier
Milly joined the NFA as a volunteer in August 2016 just after graduating from Bristol University. She proved so invaluable that we soon offered her a full-time role creating publicity material, developing our social media activity and assisting our Events Team.
