Outing to Exbury Gardens

On May 29th a group from The Not Forgotten Association was personally hosted at Exbury Gardens by the owner Charlotte de Rothschild, a Vice President of the Association.

Charlotte’s enthusiasm was infectious and she has a detailed knowledge of the gardens which boast some of the finest rhododendrons in the country. Most of our group of 20 were keen gardeners and enjoyed a lovely day out in the sunshine as well as a lunch which have them the opportunity to mix and share their experiences.

Thank you Charlotte for a super day which was appreciated by all.

Sailing Crew Raise £1,000 for the NFA

During this year’s Round The Island Race on 1^st June the crew of Selkie raised just over £1,000 for The Not Forgotten Association.

Royal Navy veteran and NFA beneficiary Nigel Smith joined the crew helping them to finish in their best time yet and place 114 out of 1,500 boats.

Our grateful thanks to the crew and to Tim Davies for his continued support.

Solent Boat Trip

Last week The Not Forgotten Association organised its annual boat trip on The Solent for over 100 beneficiaries. Our guests thoroughly enjoyed the scenery and seeing so much activity on the water, as well as the comradeship of their fellow veterans and the lunch on board.

One beneficiary said: “Thank you for the most wonderful day, a day full of fun and happiness. Thank you also to all in The Not Forgotten for providing us fellows with a nice day amongst interesting people.”

Collection at London Victoria Station

Today a dedicated group of veterans and serving personnel collected more than £4,100 for the NFA at London Victoria Station. Our sincere thanks to each and every one of them, to all those who gave so generously and to Ann Milcoy who expertly co-ordinated the day.

Blackpool Evening Raises £3,334

An evening of comedy and entertainment in Blackpool last weekend raised the fantastic sum of £3,334 for the Association. We would like to thank Carl Schofield and all the fabulous artistes who gave their time to entertain the audience of some 400 people.

Bluebell Railway Outing

This week we took a group of 50 beneficiaries for a relaxing afternoon on the Bluebell Railway in Sussex. All the armed services were represented. It was a highly enjoyable outing for everyone, particularly for the many residents of ex-service care homes across the south east who were able to join us and for the wheelchair users who are so well catered for on the railway.
